Macro of the winter inflorescence, densly packed cluster of flower of senecio rowleyanus (string of beads) which grows in arid habitats. The succulent beads are actually the leaves modified for extended periods of drought - about 1/4 inch diameter. Very small fragrant white blooms in autumn and winter. All parts of the plant are poisonous if ingested. A succulent of south africa that suits hanging baskets. Shallow DOF f2.8
